Every place has its unique narratives, rhythms, memories and voices. We listen deeply, with all our senses, echoing local spirit in three dimensions. By designing with sensitivity to context, culture and character, we create spaces that feel rooted and real, where belonging comes naturally.
We Challenge Assumptions and Champion the Overlooked
In engaging local communities, ‘Design through Dialogue’ informs our mindset, embracing all physical abilities, genders and ages from the start. For us, quiet voices and small details are a key source of creative inspiration. What we learn, we bring back to the brief, respectfully challenging presumptions with innovative solutions.
We Harness the Power of Community and Nature
We align with nature’s own networks, harmonising water flow, soil health, biodiversity and seasonal change. Every scheme is a chance to restore ecosystems, regenerate human connection and support wildlife. By shaping places that restore as well as sustain, we demonstrate practical, positive change and measurable impact, inspiring others with our example.

We give each other autonomy and responsibility, leading with collaboration. Always curious and creative, we never stop growing, testing ideas, sharing inspiration, adapting to new technologies, auditing every completed scheme and learning all the time. Outerspace was founded on the principle that true placemaking has to harmonise planetary processes and human needs. In our approach, sustainability, circular economy thinking and climate resilience are all embedded, intertwined fundamentals, from outset to delivery.
In 2015, the same year the Paris Climate Agreement set global carbon targets, we began a long-term partnership with Green Small Business to develop a comprehensive climate strategy for our practice. From this work, we established a three-pillar framework to structure our climate and biodiversity commitments: Projects, Practice and Profession
Projects
We embed nature-based solutions, regenerative principles, and measurable biodiversity net gain into our design outcomes, always tailored to context, scale and opportunity.
Practice
From supplier choice to studio operations, we maintain low-impact protocols and track our emissions. Since 2021, we achieved operational Net Zero.
Profession
We actively contribute to sector-wide transformation, advocating for stronger policy, sharing knowledge, and influencing the planning system from within.
We may be small. But we are leaders in sustainability. Our work proves that landscape architecture can go beyond compliance to deliver meaningful, measurable climate action, creating places that are not only sustainable but restorative by design.
